Protracks and GNX 4 drivers
I was happy to see my son finally wanting to use his new GNX 4 with PTP. I had already worked out the procedure for hands free usb recording, but I couldn't get it to work this time. It would record in PTP when I pressed record on the GNX, but no audio. I couldnt find any input sources for the GNX this time. The DigitechMac usb1/2 option would come up but not the Digitech usb 1/2 option. I think he put the usb cord into the wrong usb port, not the one I had been using from the beginning. I seem to remember someone saying that if you dont use the same port that you set it up with, you will lose your drivers. Is this correct? I quickly tried to reinstall the drivers but that didnt change anything.
I was considering uninstalling and reinstalling the whole shabang but I dont want to lose the files we were working on. Is it safe to do this or will the song/project/files be erased with it? Can I successfully reinstall just the drivers and not PTP? Any advise on procedure?

Yes, you should always use the original USB port, but before going back to ground 0, here's one other thought:
Check Options->Audio->Drivers and see if you're using the MME driver. I found I can only use the Digitech Mac USB input setting with MME. Try switching to the WDM driver. Restart PTP which will re-calibrate. Then Digitech USB 1-2 (and 3-4) should show up as options for in/out.

Come to think of it I told him NOT to use anything other than the no:2 usb port if he was going to play with it. Hes 15 and he knows everything.
