Bad first link. I also have a system that seldom if ever goes out of tune for a Strat or any other Fendse guitar. And it's free, for the most part.
1 Make sure that the strings do NOT bind at the nutt.. Pinching is the main culprit for knocking Fenders out of tune. Those extra long first 3 strings move foreword when you slack the strings with a vibrato.
2 If at all possible, get a graphite nutt. Graphite is lubed so that the strings return more easily. HOWEVER, I have a plastic nutt that I took the bind out of, and it only gives me a very slight problems with great humidity changes. To fix this, I use a rag slightly dampened with lemon oil furniture polish. Then I lift the strings at the nutt and wipe them . That is a great lube that stops all the sticking.
3 You may need to change the tuners to a higher grade. Most stock tuners suck. However, I use the cheap Goto tuners and they hold just fine. Just make sure you have plenty of wraps on your strings so they don't slip in the holes.
For the 6 string vibrato tailpiece, I remove the middle 4 screws, then replace the outer two with hard steel tempered screws. After doing this, even my stock 6 bolt Fender returns freely.
I have not seen a locking system as easy and as fast to tune, yet the stock crappy vibrato stays in tune just as well as the locking stsyems.
That's my story and I'm stickin to it. {By the way, a Vibrato is a frequency or pitch variation, and tremolo is an amplitude variation.
Leo got it all wrong. No one told him it was a vibrato
fetter399 that looks kewl but who wants to add a fret to there 1950`s-60`s collectable guitar nobody I know, the shelfnut is non- invasive to the guitar as per the patented shelf nut, if you no longer use the sytem you slide the original nut back in the slot an PRESTO all original again.And as far as the stretch tuning that was all done by Buzz Feiten to begin with which is why he recommends the peterson strobe tuner, with the Feiten system you CAN tune the guitar with a regular ol tuner AND still be in better tune than before
Ok, I get it now. I thought this was another way to sell stuff that \"solved\" string stretch problems caused by improper \"stringing\".
I just thank my lucky stars that I'm tone deaf. I seldom hear the flaws in my intonation. I imagine that's easier on my pocket book.
This string may \"improve my picking\".. Now when I miss a note I can always blame it on intonation. {And refer peeps to this forum to substantiate my credability.}
Used to be that when I screwed up and forgot where I was in a riff, I would see the puzzled look on the bass players face. Then I'd lean over and tell him \"That was Jazz\".
