I use Sonar 5 Producer Edition. That program will do everything I'll ever need it to and more.

I've been with Sonar 4 Producer, now with Sonar 5. Sonar 5 is incredible, but even 4 will do everything you need and more. Producer edition (of either) includes cool plugins for rack-type effects and synths - awesome! There are even more new effects and synths in Sonar 5.

I go thru Adobe Audition which is Cool Edit Pro 2 basically. Nice straight forward work area for recording.

Man, I am old school. I use Cakewalk HS2004. What can I say, I learned how to use it really well and like it. I have some good plugins though and I don't use MIDI really. My band only uses the old fashioned stuff, you know, a guitar, drums, bass, and vocals, SM57's and 58's. I like the sound I get and don't really want to change it. I do hear that Sonar is awesome though.

I use Sonar 4P and GTP2.0 I guess it all depends on if I want to use it on other DAW's. Since most older programs can open .bun files from GTP, I use that when I want to share projects with friends, through the mail. With Sonar NOT being backword compatable, I only use it for projects that I don't plan to \"share\".

I like the idea of having both formats. If I get serious about something in GTP, I can always import it to Sonar. And GTP runs on smaller older machines. Most of my friends aren't computer junkies or gamers, so they are happy with slower systems. I use Cool Edit 1 and II for editing. Sometimes SoundForge 7. Cool edit is more striaght foreword, at least it is for me.
