Beneath the Mask (1991) - Chick Corea's Elektric Band (Gambale on Guitar)
The other Electric Band cds are good to, and I haven't heard them all. But I've replaced this one twice. The band just \"sounds\" like they're having a good time!
I'de Google \"Gambale DVD reviews\" and weed out the sales pitches.
The workout video is similar to what you might expect when buying a home exercise video - you see FG in the center, with two other dudes on guitar sitting behind him, and they all play through the sequences in the booklet to a rhythm track. Throughout, Gambale keeps saying, \"ok one more, pace yourself, keep it steady!\" it's kind of funny.
The monster speed picking video is more of a stylistic demonstration, but it's a lot more instructional than something like Tony Macalpine's video. He breaks down the math of his economy picking approach and outlines the patterns that work with it. You basically have to use exact same cross-string pattern for all your scales and arpeggios to do this. If you already have a set way that you play scales and arpeggios, this might not be useful to you. If you want to try out some new speed techniques, give it a shot.
In all the videos Frank explains what he's showing very well, and plays examples at slow tempos when necessary.
