bass noise gate question.

Im considering buying a cheap bass for recording. (ESP LTD B-50). So that means single coil pups. Will I be able to filter out the buzz with the GNX noise gate without affecting the tone of the bass? Or should I buck up and get something with humbuckers?

Also, what does active EQ on a bass mean?

Comments

  • yes the gnx noise gate will work.
noise gates work on the basis that it stops a signal until a certain threshold is reached, when the threshold is met the gate lets the entire signal thru, so none of you tone will be lost.

standard guitar/bass eq (passive) can only reduce the volumes of frequencies. active eq means you can boost frequencies as well because it has a battery powered pre-amp in it.
  • ok so i guess that single coil pups and passive eq are not that big of deal when youre running your bass through your gnx4 to studio monitors. best to go with the cheaper bass.

    thanks
