Resonator Guitar

Was wondering if any of you guys out there are resonator slide players??

I used to be a few years ago but have gotten out of practice. My ES175 with 12 guage flat wounds do okay but just doesn't have that nasty slimy resonator sound. :(

Didn't want to spend a lot of cash cause I won't play it all the time. Kind of a one trick pony for me. Was also looking for one that was electrified through a bridge piezo to really get that nasty down home delta blues thing going. I played a few that have a plain electro-magnetic pick-up mounted on the body and amplified that way they sound like a flat top that is amplified... Definitely NOT what I am looking for...

After much research, including playing quite a few, I decided on this model...

This model has both pickups (Electro-magnetic and the Peizo) so you can blend the tone... 8) It also has a round neck so I can play regular (Spanish style) with the slide on my pinky which is the way I learned.

This will be my Christmas present... It took quite a bit of work on my part as well.. All I heard for a long time, when I started considering this purchase was \"What, another guitar\"...

Got a pretty good deal on it with a hardshell case as well. Should arrive next week. I only get to play it about a day to check it out, then it has to go under the tree for christmas....

If any of you guys have any thoughts on electric resonator guitars in general or this model in particular, Leave your thoughts on this post...

I know.... I can almost hear you guys now....\"What!!!! Tal with a Fender!!!!\"

I did try it out in the music store before I bought it sounded really wickedly slimy in there.. Even for a Fender

Will post Johnny Winter's Delta style stuff after Chistmas...Can't wait to hear how it sounds through the GNX4.. Anybody with any experience in that gendre as well..... respond in this post.....

See Ya,
Tal
