After reading that, I'm intrigued. May buy it. Check it out vs the GNX3 then either sell the GNX or take them up on their guarantee.

Well, personally I was moving up to GNX3k from GNX3 as my primary... and sort of went with the flow without hearing it in a store first. In retrospect that was a good decision - it's much nicer to try things in the quiet of your home, rather than in a noisy store plugged into god-knows-what.

However, as far the tone, I was absolutely blown away - exceeded all my expectations (not having owned a tube amp, I finally had an idea of what having one felt like). I can see why DT is so confident, as I don't see this guarantee backfiring.

I think this is just a marketing ploy- Not a very clever one at that. Most retail and mail order allows you to try / use anything for up to 30 days or bring back for full refund anyway...Now if they extended it to all who purchased units from the release date a few months ago till January 2006, then I'd be impressed (Or extended it to 60 days) ... Unfortunately I read this and just said \"C'mon, give me a break...\" Had the exact opposite affect on me....Granted, I love the Digitech products (especially the GNX3000... It exceeded my expectations) which is why I use them, but their product/brand and marketing management leaves a lot to be desired...

It's obviously a marketing ploy, but trust me - it'll work on quite a few people. Statistically speaking, whether a marketing ploy is clever or otherwise, there are always enough suckers to bite. At least getting them in this way will expose more people to the quality products and challenge the competing manufacturers. Plus it's certainly cost-effective to put up a small \"guarantee\" blob in a few places, as far as marketing ploys go. Just like this forum is a cost-effective way for DT to handle customer service.

Nothing wrong with a good marketing idea. I like it because it will cause a few folks to go try the GNX3K - which does have excellent qualities. So it will basically sell itself. I bet 90% of the folks who try the GNX3K are sold on it very quickly. It's that good.

The fact is, if John Doe buys a GNX3K at some small mom-n-pop shop who doesn't have a strong return policy - well, this will alleviate the concern that John Doe might have if he doesn't like the unit...he now has recourse if he isn't happy with it. Digitech's offer may not be as broadly scoped as some would like to see (or to count as \"legit\"), but it is an offer that will work for lots of people.

What's not to like? Not everyone will buy online, nor from MF or GC (for example). I would think this opens up their market/sales possibilities very nicely.
