which side of the switch is neck and which side is bridge?

i am trying to wire my JEM with new pickups.. but i found 2 contradicting wiring diagrams...

now i am confused to which side of the 5-way switch produces neck sound? and bridge.. earlier i had a setting ... up (towards pickup) produces neck sound .. warmer sound.. i have paf joe.. and toggling down produced bridge sound (tone zone..)

now i have just the opposite...

can anyone tell me which is the right one?? up -> neck or down -> neck??
