G3456's patches...

Are any of you guys running direct to a PA with these patches? If so, did you have to tweek them very much?

Comments

  • 8) I have the basic series from G3456.( I dig it) I don't seem to tweek them much due to the PA...rather due to the pickup configiration I have. I have Krappy Koren mini humbuckers in my Epi FB for now (until christmas that is=) and sometimes I need to use the humbucker to single coil setting for strat sounds etc...the tone on this puppy is pretty muddy right now. (some seymour duncan antiquitys should fix this) I found this true for the Eric Johnson patch. It was set to no pickup modeling by default. I turned on the humbucker to single coil modeler and it sounded a heck of alot more like his tone. If I plug a strat in I would take that off. I might adjust the delay and reverb levels to my likeing as well but non of those changes are due to a PA diffrance in sound. hope that made some kinda sence. :)
  • I use them live every week at Church. Obviously I don't use the extreme high gain stuff, but most patches are very usable for me. About the only thing I have done is lowerd Preset Level on some, and the level of the one amp channel to better balance it level wise to the clean channel. I use a Marshall MG30 as my stage monitor, and run Left XLR out to the board. The only other thing I've found is the sound guy don't need much level from me my output levels on the back of GNX4 are very low say quater turn maybee?? From what everyone says it sounds realy awsome and I get so much sound variations cause I rarely play the same patch week to week. It will take me a long time to get thru all MFX Supermodels!!! Thanks again Mike for the great work I love all those varied tones & sounds with very little work on my part which I don't have time for anyhow!!!
  • No high gain stuff at church?

    Why not?

You can crank out monster crushing riffs for the lord.
  • JER - where do you play? I'm in the praise band at Ankey First United Methodist church!!!

Walt Disney was right - it IS a small world after all!!!

... for the record - I don't hesitate anymore to put out a HEAVY tone for the Lord! It took me a bit to not feel \"dirty\" playing a heavy tone in the sanctuary - but once I got past it - if I can creat it, I'll play it!!!
  • Jer,
It has nothing to do with I can't do that, or play high gain stuff etc.. It is more like what the goal of a Worship band is to lead in Worship. My goal is not to stand way out with the other Instruments, and Vocalist's to say overpower. But to blend add to the total sound and make it sound fuller and better. As well as the Music that is done in our Worship sets is Modern Christian Stuff & Hyms also done swung and ubeat but not Heavy Metal for sure. In the future??? Only the Lord knows. God's will be done if that is for me to shread then so be it!!! In God's house or not. I am the Lords Searvent
  • Partch - well spoken. In saying \"I don't hesitate to put a heavy tone out there\" it should be noted that it's in context with the song/moment. It IS all about worship and praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! THAT is why I'm there! That having been said - some praise just sounds better with a heavy gain guitar driving it! But, I do so 'in the mix', not with I'm HERE oppressive volume.

... but having grown up in traditional worship, it did take me several months to click on my gain box... it just felt so wrong to put that sound out in a sanctuary. Now I realize that what God wants is a servants heart, focused solely on HIM in praise!

    Rock on for Jesus Christ!
  • I know what you mean...the first time i cut loose was a 12 bar lead in a song called \"\"Rock of my salvation\" and I never received so many complements. Go ahead let your hair down and kick into an overdrive.

Also read \"The purpose driven life\". It has a whole section in the 1st or second chapter on music. It basicaly says \"music are beats and notes and it is dosent matter if it is Metal Rap, metal thrash, bebop or contempory. As a matter of fact it really gets into scathing
the legalist that think everything especialy rock style is not Christian. Notes or beats do not make the song...it is the lyrical content are the parameter to be watched.

So once you understand this principle, you can follow the Holy Spirit and you will know what is apropriate and what is not. You should hear my SATCH version of AMAZING LOVE!! :D Peace
  • I am very fortunate that my pastor, (who leads, plays keys and sings) loves to RoCk!! I use a clean tube sound for slow stuff.

DT sound for about 50% and Vai , Lynch, Satch, others for about 40%.

The final 10%...??? WhAtEvEr!?! Dive bombs, whammy!!, everything!!

We do a jam out on the main lick to Beverly Hills Cop.

    Whooo whoooo!! This is fun!!

I have worked out the lyrics for \"you really got me\" Hehehe

    You Really Got Me Lyrics:

Lord, you really got me now
You got me so I know what I’m doin’
Yea, you really got me now
You got me so I can sleep at night

Oh Yea.., you really got me now
You got me so I know where I’m goin’, yeah
Oh Jesus, you really got me now
You got me so I can sleep at night

    You really got me
    He’s really got me
    Jesus really got me

Please, don’t ever let me be
I only wanna be by Your side
Please, don’t ever let me be
I only wanna be by Your side

Jesus, you really got me now
You got me so I know what I’m doin’, yeah

    Next... Jesus to the bone.

Jesus to the Bone words: George Thorogood/x

On the day I was reborn, my friends all gathered 'round
And they gazed in wide wonder, at the joy I had found
The enemy spoke up, and he said leave this one alone
He could tell right away, that I had Jesus to the bone
    Jesus to the bone
    Jesus to the bone
    J-J-J-J-Jesus to the bone
    J-J-J-J-Jesus
    J-J-J-J-Jesus
    Jesus to the bone

He broke a thousand strongholds, when I met Him
He'll break a thousand more baby, when He meets them
I wanna be yours Lord Jesus, yours and yours alone
I'm here to tell ya people, that I got Jesus to the bone
    Jesus to the bone
    J-J-J-Jesus
    J-J-J-Jesus
    J-J-J-Jesus
    Jesus to the bone

He’ll make a rich man give, He'll make a hard man feel
He'll make an old man strong, and make a young man real
I’m really yours Lord Jesus, yours and yours alone
I'm here to tell ya people, that you need Jesus to the bone
    J-J-J-J-Jesus
    J-J-J-J-Jesus
    J-J-J-J-Jesus
    Jesus to the bone
