Somebody watches over musicians.

I've got twins in daycare, 1 mortgage and a monthly apartment rent. This month I wouldn't have been able to pay for all of them.

So today I took a picture of my Marshall halfstack, and made some \"For Sale\" brocheurs for a price that would get me only one more week of daycare for the twins. Then I posted them up on as many apartment complex mailbox stations that I could find.

About and hour after, I got a call from my relator telling me that he got me a contract on my house for much more than I expected!

I immediately went back to as many complexes as I could remember and ripped down all the brocheurs that I posted. I played guitar tonight like I've never played before, and am going back down in the garage and play some more right after I click submit.

  • Very cool c4. I do indeed agree that a higher power does indeed look after artists. Hope things go well at closing. As corny as it sounds. Tough times do make strong people.

Hang in there and good luck.

    See Ya,

  • Excellent ending to an otherwise sad story. I am sitting in my house today having an \" open house\". Trying to sell mine too. :) you live to Rawkon! another day!...Man I think there is a Bon Jovi song in that story somewhere...
  • Just thought it was unique that I had my house on the market for 6 months and that extra 1k a month was kick'n my axe, then I got that call on the day that I put my amp up for sale - about an hour after.

It's not over yet, 5 more days on the grace period for them to back out.

I'll let you know how it goes, and post a tune.
  • I also have no doubt someone is watching over us. Even though I was never a doubter, the events of this summer would have convinced anyone.

I work on contracts, and my contract was due to end at the end of August. I recv'd word that my contract was being cut short be 2 weeks, and I wasn't happy about it.

So, I moved my vacation plans up 2 weeks. While on vacation, something happened that would change my outlook on work. I brought my wife and 2 boys on a vacation, and we visited a zoo in the area. While there, my wife needed to use the bathroom, but the closest one was a good 100 yards away. So, I sat with my 2 boys and waited for her. We then here a frantic scream \"He's choking!!! He's ckoking.\" I looked over, and the mother was in a panic. I also noticed that nobody else was moving a muscle to help. Seeing the boy was turning blue, I jumped up, raced to the boy, and gave him the heimlich maneuver. After a couple of times, a piece of hotdog came out. The mother was screaming as I was trying to tell her that he was breathing, and would be fine. I then told her how to do the maneuver if it ever happens in the future. She told me that she knew how to do it, but was overcome with panic, and was unable to move.

I was also shaken by the experience, and did not sleep well that night.
I had emotions of fear and anger.

I feared that, even though my wife and myself are trained in first aid, the same may one day may happen to us. Nobody knows how you will react when the time comes.

My anger was driven by the fact that not one person got off their ass to help this boy, or even assist me.

I spoke with a very religious friend of mine, and he put it into perspective. \"The task was yours, and yours alone. You wouldn't have been there if your contract wasn't cut short. You were there for a reason\" he said.

Well, as the weeks passed, I wasn't finding a new contract, but I wasn't worried. I knew someone was watching over us. Just as our bank account was down to pennies, I got a new contract with some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

So, as you see, after the events of this summer, I understand your feeling of being watched over. I have no doubt.
  • To me - Job sums it up nicely. Here is a guy who lost everything he had on earth yet still chose to praise God (Job 1:21)

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

ednrg - I agree with the wisdom of your \"very religious friend\". Each of us has a unique part in God's plan. If we choose to not answer His call to us then there is a part of His plan that never is accomplished.
  • wHATS THAT OLD LINE?...

\"I know the Lord would not give me more than I can bare...but
I just wish he did'nt have such Confidence in me. \"
  •

    Now THAT'S a funny saying!!!
  • Hey, great news on your amp and house!

Lots of times I find I have to do my part (give up amp if need be), before God will do His part.

But sometimes, you got to be careful, I have tryed to \"fix\" something and all I really needed to do was get out of God's way!! :D

ps. Job got it all back and more after his revelation. If I ever get upset or don't understand. I remind myself He's God and I am not.
  • Glad to hear you all have faith... I am on the oppsite end finding myself drifting further and further away... :?

Further and further away, Dude, He is everywhere. So you can't drift away, He is there too! Just reach out, :)

\"Draw near to Me and I will draw near to you. \"

HEB 10:19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

How may I encourage you my friend? 8)
