  • You need to have an S/PDIF in on your PC somewhere. Some motherboards have it incorporated in the on-board sound device. If not, you'll need a soundcard that has it. If you have a soundcard or interface that takes an optical or a three-prong digital signal, you can buy converters between the three types. Also make sure that the IN signal is stereo (surround formats with optical do have issues).

A radioshack adapter to go between my GNX3 coax and my mixer's/interface's optical input cost $10 including a power adapter. Of course, the cables pushed the bill up to around $90... stupid Monster!

  • If you already have the mixer hooked to the PC and working you can just run the L&R analog outs from the GNX to the mixer and get signal to the PC that way.

That said, it can be nice to have BOTH digital and analog connections to the PC. I've set up a few times with digital out set up for dry guitar and analog out with the full fx chain.

It kind of depends on how involved you want to get, and what your goal is. If you just want to make scratch-pad recordings, you have a workable setup with the GNX->Mixer->PC setup.
