REPLACEMENT PICK UPS
Hi dudes,
Looking for some advice here. I have a Vintage LP copy and am thinking about tarting it up a bit with new pickups. I tried the \"Wizard\" on the Seymour Duncan website and the No1 suggestion offered was an SH4 JB in the bridge and an SH2N Jazz in the neck. I must say it really is a fantastic website. I listened to the sound samples for these pick ups amongst others but the problem is my amateur untrained ear can't really hear that much of a difference between the different pick ups! I'm basically looking for a \"Classic Rock\" sound, thick, creamy with a kick to it (starting to think of cocktails for some reason now). Anyway, any advice would be much appreciated.

But I got my one from ebay cheap as chips for £120. A proper bargain no less. I was pondering over Dimarzios, however, I've read before somewhere that SDs are more popular aftermarket pick ups for LPs and LP style guitars.
my 5 string bass was made by vintage - i didnt know anything about them except that it looked cool and was cheap - everyone who's had a go has - without exception - said how cool it sounds/handles.
vintage stuff is really good quality for the price. im quite taken with the SG copy they do - i want a hardtail i can put 7s on. i dont know how to initonate my floyd rose properly and the Variax needs 10s - would be nice to playsomething that didnt hurt after 5 hours play
besides Iommi used 7's i've heard.
ps when you see it recomend the breed neck pickup i would agree i get lovly rock , blues and all other sounds from that. it will pull up paf , paf joe to go see 8)
I have a standard PAF in the neck, and a hot PAF in the bridge. That gives the guitar a nice even sound when switching between the PUPs. Without the hot one, the bridge sounds a little lower (volume) than the neck.
As for PUPS I don't know,happy hunting

Put them in my LP and theyre never gonna leave. They are expensive though.
I just Installed an EMG Zakk Wylde set (81/85) in an axe. Theyre great. Cost me $189 NIB from ebay. The kit comes prewired for a Les Paul which makes the install a breeze. They do clean up more than the name would imply
this is expensive.....

If you are looking for a standard pro quality replacement pickup, they are some of the best you can get.
Note that once you install a pickup, the height setting makes a big difference too.
Great Choices buzzby. Youll never go wrong with that combo and wont break the bank.
