at the moment (in the UK) both units are the same price. GNX3000 is simpler and has more inbuilt models but GNX4 can do a LOT more - even though it has fewer onboard models Guitar3456 has come with a way of making pretty amazing new ones.
They're both good, GNX3000 is simpler to use and has the newest modelling, GNX4 has more funcionality and still sounds amazing with older modelling - at this stage of the game i wouldnt like to say what to get.
I own a GNX4 and I love it. Buy one then download Guitar3456 patches from the sound community if you don't want to spend the cash for the discs right away. I'm buying the discs soon though just cause Guitar3456 makes the sweetest sounding patches I've heard yet.
GNX4 is a true \"guitar workstation\", with more features, options, and capabilities. GNX3000 is not as versatile or all-inclusive, but the new amp models are so awesome that it's all worth it. But because GNX4 is a very capable sound-generator, I can't cast a vote one way or the other quite yet.
My understanding is that the GNX3k had better models (newer technology). If you already have a DAW, I would go with the 3k, if you don't, you will benefit greatly from the GNX4 with the workstation concept allowing for recording on the unit itself.
I don't think the 3000 has a cf card. For that reason alone I would go with the GNX4. Even if you don't use the onboard recorder (which I by the way think is an incredible tool), the cf card allows you to store 80 more of your own presets giving you a total of 160 user prestes. The 3000 only stores 65 user presets. The cf card also allows you to store more midi drum patterns and mp3 backing tracks. Now put in the Super Series which is a must have and I'd say the GNX4 is a no brainer.
