c4r7, this is getting too spooky. I live on Edgewood, just west of Jupiter. I could walk to your \"room\" in a matter minutes. I have a friend who was just saying we need to have a pickin party, he plays a mean bass. I know a couple of other drummers who are always lookin to jam.
May be something will work out. I'll talk to him.
Of course I am half a century old, so we play some of the older stuff, but its all for the music.
Hey guys I seen this post and had already commented on my return in the member music section. I'll reprint on this thread as well. Thanks Mike and c4 for thinking of me. Everythings fine here with the exception of all the inept political boobs in this state concerned about my \"personal safety\".
Thanks again for your concerns,
Tal,
The following is a reposting from my \"Got Chops?\" post.
Thanks for all your concerns Gentlemen.
I am currently back in Seabrook with hard drives installed and back on line.
As for \"Rita\", what a fiasco. 18 hours on the road with my wife, 12 year old, one dog, My 77 year old parents, just to get to Austin. I could ramble on ad nauseum about my personal feelings about how the evacutation was handled, political personalities, smart ass cops, etc.... but that is not what this board is about. I'll just say, that I will think long and hard about following mandatory evacuation orders the next time. :x
One good thing out of the fiasco. For those of you who live in the Austin Texas area. If you are in the area of Manachaca and William Cannon, there is a Diamond Shamrock store there. Me and my brother were cruising around Friday when we pulled into this convenience store for gas, etc.... We pulled up to the pumps and the only grade of gas left was super unleaded. I said \"Hell with it\" after 18 hours to get to Austin I was definitely in need for the return trip.
There was a sign on the pump that read something like this
\"Hurricane Rita Evacuees!!!!
The mangement team of this station apologises for the lack of other grades of gas besides super unleaded. The management team of this station has decided to sell our super unleaded gas for the price of regular - 5 cents.\"
My jaw amost fell off. I filled up. Then went inside and asked to see the Manager and personally thanked him. Then I bought about $100 dollars of stuff in the store, that I hadn't intended to, then left.
For those of you in the Austin area make sure you trade with this guy and tell him how much the Houston evacuees appreciate his kind heartedness.
Thanks for your concern c4 and D. I appreciate it. And for the rest of you guys that commented on Got Chops? I appreciate that as well. The writings perked me right up after the fiasco.
I was a young boy and rode out Carla (category 4) really scary!!!
I was an adult and rode out Alicia (Category 3) Really Scary!!!!
A tree fell through my living room and no power for a month. It was sure a hot and miserable August but I stuck it out. After Alicia I promised myself that should another storm threaten my area I would evacuate until power was restored and utilities were back on line.
I can tell you that the evacuation was every bit as scary as riding out the storm. Hell, we had over 70 people die during the evacuation. 18 hours for a 3 hour cruise. Kind of sounds like Gilligans Island. Hmmmm.
No traffic information except, \"Everythings a parking lot\". No gas to be had should you be unfortunate enough to run out during this fiasco. 100 degree weather with no facilities open anywhere. No numbers to call for help, medical emergencies, etc...... Smart mouthed cops everwhere assuring you that they are in control so be a good boy and eat your beets, then you can have your pudding. Hell, I could go on forever!!!!
The one thing I learned during this \"FIASCO\" is to NEVER put you or your families personal safety in the hands of IDIOTS.
I guess the next one that comes my way you'll see me on CNN. I'll be the guy with 2 foot of water in his house and no power. I will have with me seveal cases of vienna sausages and bottled water, miscellaneous fire arms, and a bad attidude. The news reporters will be traveling with local agencies trying to rescue people and I'll be the guy telling them to \"GET THE HELL OFF OF MY PROPERTY\"
Think I'm bitter?
I'm basically a hard headed red neck from Mississippi that has learned after 52 years to fend for himself. I should have known better.
Tal rules, Sorry you had to deal with that fiasco , but I am glad you are back in your home. Hope all is well, look forward to your music posts when you can.

Mike B... it's actually in Garland. \"or we can all just have a beer\"
c4r7.. well how 'bout that. I am near Jupiter and Walnut.. We may get slightly less pounded.
Whoa! The room is in one of those warehouses behind that school on Kirby and Edgewood. Maybe we can record a jam and post with pics.
May be something will work out. I'll talk to him.
