Red Cross vs. Salvation Army

Give to the Red Cross, not the Salvation Army.

I'm currently watching the concert to raise money for the victims of the hurricane. On the screen they have a scroll with information how and where to give.

On the scroll, there was something very interesting. I thought it read \"A donation of $50 will feed an entire family of 4 for a day.\" I told my wife about it, and it seemed kind of strange. I mean, you can easily feed a family of 4 at Wendy's for the day. Where is the money going?

After a few minutes, the scroll came around again. It was for the Red Cross, and it read \"A donation of $50 will feed an entire family of 4 for 2 days.\" Ok, I thought I was seeing things. But it turns out I wasn't. The scroll eventually cycled around to the Salvation Army again. I was correct, it said \"a day\".

So, here is the difference between the two:

A donation of $50 to the Red Cross will feed a family of 4 for 2 days.

A donation of $50 to the Salvation Army will feed a family of 4 for 1 day.

It sounds like there's a lot of overhead in the Salvation Army.

Give to the Red Cross, the money will go a lot further.
