Cloud 9 - Reviews

Another original (it's better than the last one, I promise!) Played with Jackson Stealth, both lead and rhythm, lead patch is Jpet IMG and rhthym is Mesatrpl. Bass is played through guitr2bass patch. Drums are GNX4 factory. I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to lead work, I just winged it. Let me know what you think.

  • Hey Brad,
Another cool tune to add to your repertoire! I like your rhythm work and tone. You need some vocals on your songs. I'm going insane finishing songs up for the contest, but as soon as I'm done, I'd like to add some bass to your songs. Your leads fit right in.
  • Thanks AC! And Thanks to g3456 for the awesome patches! I wish I had the courage to sing, my wife is buggin' me about singing, she thinks I would be good. (Yeah, like an alley cat at midnight on the fence!!) I am my own worst critic! I guess I should try and throw something out there for you all to get some feedback. Look forward to collaberating with you someday! I know you're busy.

  • Has a 80's kind of feel to it. Tighten up on your chord changes and you will be cookin.
  • Thanks! I grew up with 80's metal/rock. I'm very influenced by it. Cloud 9 was a one take on each track, so it is a little loose on the progressions. May record it again later. Just laid it down for a song idea.

  • I hear ya on singing Brad. I was scared to death of it too. But acwild got me to try it one time and I was not too down on what came of it. Its not perfect but it was a heck of a lot better than I thought it would be.

Now I am not afraid to try it anymore.

Give it a shot. The first person to hear it will be you. And if its no good toss it & try again. You never know....
  • I like your stuff alot. Very well recorded and thought out.

I am a mo-tard at singing heavy rock. I have a customer in my studio who is a nationally known christian rock singer. I compose stuff very simaliar to your stuff and add a melody line of me singing, humming, whistling like a mo-tard. This is enough for my customer to hear a melody and write lyrics and eventually we come up with songs for a CD.

If you can't write lyrics very well or sing very well at least try to come up with melody lines to go with your chord work. For vocals simple melodies are best.

For demos we don't care how good or bad the vocal delivery is. We just listen to the musical idea and that's all that counts.

Also keep Intros as short as possible on demos.

Very nice stuff. I encourage you to keep at it. You have the right ideas.

  • Hey guys, I appreciate all of the input! I'll keep churning out these little tunes every once and a while and maybe someday I'll come up with some lyrics for some of these. Thanks!

  • Yeah that song is screaming lyrics. very catch groove going on... Man if you changed the drums too...This would rip.
  • I like your tune, good lines there. Not talking about singing, unless you want to cry. Do not like my own voice.
