Hurricane ~ a national disaster

I have seen these links to the http://www.RedCross.org showing up on other forums today. For me it was a reminder for something i intended to do this morning but got caught up in other matters. I didn't want to start making non GNX related posts over here but thought it important.

  • Looks like that website is getting slammed. It won't even launch for me.
Pretty horrible about what's going on down on the Gulf coast.
Whatever the water didn't ruin. The looters are stealing.
While the whole nation suffers with crazy high gas prices.

    Feels like Armaggadon. :(
  • having the website overloaded is a good sign but on the other hand when people are trying to help it's not that ideal. There is a 1-800 #
1-800-help-now. I'm sure other relief agencies are taking donations too. As far as the looting, disasters tend to bring out the best and worst in people. Diapers and food are one thing but big screen TV's are sensless and greedy.
  • That stuff looks pretty devastating eh.
  • Yes, it's horrible. Let me express my sympathy for all the victims of this catastrophy. Three years back we experienced something very similar here in Central Europe, I know very well what water can do. So sorry.
  • My Bus, associates, and other music retailers merged a nice don for RC . I urge people to ask their grocery chains to donate gatorade, bottled water..as much as possible. Our local chain here offered after the first day..all you can do is at least ask...its a mess down there. I hear that United Way, churches and other Hospitals, Salvation Army can all take don's for the relief. Do not use a bunch of gas..work and stuff..otherwise try a nice walk to the store..gas is at a premium! All the vol's need it..
  • One of the great things about the US is the way people always come through and help and support eachother in times like these. That is one thing I have certainly learned in the 10 years I have lived here.

    Peace,

    Thomas
  • man!!!
every spot in the world is falling into disasters........
  • I just saw this on another site: http://www.manilowfund.com/ Not only does he write the songs that make the young girls cry, but it turns out he's quite the humanitarian.

My hat's off to Barry Manilow in this instance. I hope other celebs follow his lead.
