Gain structure method when open circuit protect unknown

edited September 2012 in General Discussion
Hi, i have a crest8001. I don't know if it has open circuit protection, so it's tricky to perform the gain structure method as described by Gadget. What should i do, as i still want to set the gain structure...

  • Not really an answer, but just keeping the thread alive.

Your phrasing was a little confusing. Sort of a statement and question put together. If the OCP circuit is the same as what's used in the Crown Macrotech series, then (from what I've heard others say) no, it is pretty useless to attempt a "true" gain structure.

Hopefully Gadget will jump in and confirm.

  • It has been a LONG time since they made amps that couldn't handle open circuit operation. Most will even handle short term iron bar shorting tests....
