DRPA LCD Problem

I posted this in the old User Group, but I am not sure if that is still active so I thought I better try here as well.

I just recently purchased a refurbished DRPA which until a few days ago was working perfectly. The unit has been modified for 12 volt use but has not made its way into my car as of yet. A few days ago I turned it on and everything lit up like normal, the screen turned on and all the other lights flashed, but nothing appeared on the screen. After doing a little bit of research on this user group, I found that some other people had the same problem. The problem with my situation is that because the unit is modified my warranty is void. I totally understand and accept this, but was wondering if I could get some help on either what needs to be repaired, or if it is possible for me to pay for factory service.

Thanks for any help or insight,
Mike

  • Mike,

The problem you have described may be caused by the ribbon cable (going to the display board) not being properly seated. It is also possible that it could be a defective display or ribbon cable.
  • Thanks for the reply! Is there any way you could give more detailed information on how to troubleshoot this problem? What should I be looking for in terms of the ribbon cable and the screen? Another thought, could this be some sort of software issue?
  • Hey Mike,

Send me an email (support@dbxpro.com) and I will get you taken care of.
  • The display on my drive rack gets scrambled to the point where I can't read it.

Some gigs it works, some it doesn't and I'm not sure why. I haven't taking the unit apart yet to look for a lose connection however does anyone know if heat could / has been an issue?

My gear often sits in my truck between gigs and I'm sure the unit gets pretty warm being in So cal.

I bought the unit on E-bay new, however I don't know if the warranty is good. If not, where could i have it serviced if needed. I just need to make sure the unit will be reliable in the future.

I've been spending a lot of time on this board and it's impressive how helpful everyone is. Us newbies are great full for everyone who takes the time to contributes their wisdom.
  • Any authorized service center can do that... you can contact tech support and they can steer you to an authorized service center.. and tell you if you have a no warranty internet..not so special unit...one thing is for sure if there is NO serial #.. came with no warranty card.. or you didn't fill it out and send it in... you will most probably be SOL...

If you have no warranty...the ribbon cable that runs from the circuit board to the display works loose... is not very difficult to locate or re-seat... just remember to unplug the unit from the wall before and during service.... remove the top.. reseat the cable and close up before re-powering...
