AXR-IRSM+ as a universal IR Receiver?

Will an AXR-IRSM+ (FG454) function as a universal IR receiver? I think I read somewhere that they'd only work with AMX handheld IR controls but the online documents don't seem to mention that.

As I recall, it's an Axlink device that receives AMX IR codes and pulses the appropriate device/channel when it gets them. I don't believe there is any mechanism to recognize other IR than AMX codes, nor to pass along anything it doesn't recognize as such. And the output is strictly Axlink.
I have used them, in the past, by receiving the AMX codes, then, in my program, did a lookup and send the target device IR out an IR port. I think that is the best you can do. -
Thanks for the reply Dave. That reaffirms what I suspected.
