Wi-Spy (2.4ghz spectrum analyzer)

I came across this little thing on the web today. I haven't used one, but I could see where it might be quite handy to evaluate an install area for wi-fi activity, and possible interference issues:

I own one of these devices. It seems to work very well. I have used it in my house to tune my settings a little. This device was mentioned along with other wireless products in: http://amxforums.com/showthread.php?t=1120
If you have any specific questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

I just found a head to head comparison of this unit with the Cognio product (costs a few grand compared to the $99.00 price of Wi-Spy).

Since then, anything changed for the analyzers? Anyone can tell their experience, good and bad for a brand? Nowdays I hear mostly for Metageek, is Cognio is getting too expensive (after takeover by Cisco) and targeting rather high-professional market?

They have a new version of the Wi-spy that costs $400.00. The new version has much higher resolution and a newer software program that has more bells and whistles. I am still running the original and it still functions well and has helped me see potential problems and avoid them. I really want to get the new unit, but I can't justify the upgrade at this point as the one I have is working well enough.

I like the Wi-Spy and it will display the Wi-Fi channels, Zigbee channels or frequencies so its easy to see where exactly you are w/o memorizing all the various channels frequencies. There's also remote monitoring and other stuff which I haven't played with yet.
You really can't beat what it does for the price. -
Special sale going on right now! I just got an email and it seems they are running a sale until the end of the month. The standard version is $99.00 and the high res version is $199.00.
It doesn't that their newest version is on sale tho
