AprilAire 8870 vs. Viewstat

Hello.

I'm speccing a project that involves using existing AprilAire 8870 thermostats. When I look at the InConcert entry for the 8870, it simply says see Viewstat. So I have to assume they use the same control system. Are there any differences that would be important to know beforehand? Is an 8870 compatible with AMX controllers out of the box?
