F,
Welcome to the forums, and welcome to the fun and wonderful world of NetLinx programming. You can find most, if not all of what you're looking for over at amx.com under it's "Tech Center" section. There are a few small PDFs that cover the NetLinx basics and you can also grab the IDE from there too. It appears that you can get the manuals that you're looking from without having to register on amx.com - perhaps a glitch? However, you will need to have an account with sufficient priveledges to obtain NetLinx Studio 2 (the IDE).
If you don't have an account that you can get the IDE, we - dealers, independent programmers, essentially anyone that is not employed by AMX - cannot help you. It's against our "contracts" (term used loosely) to distribute AMX software. If this is the case though, I'm sure some of the independents here could point you to the right person to speak with.
Hopefully this helps! Be sure to post often too; I particularly like hearing from those who have a better background in "real" (used loosely) programming languages. -
I just emailed the office that is closest to me asking to get on. It took them a while to get it, but they let me have it and I can download all the files and software and such. If you need help, let me know..

Check out the training section of AMX.com. There are many classes online, psuedo online, and classroom. Purchase some type of equipment so you can practice and go for it. There is no better learning than hands on. Monitor these forums and learn from everyone else. Above all have fun.

AMX training
You should definetly take the training classes online and in the class room. It helps a lot in your growth as an amx programmer. Also if you can look at some more advanced code, it helps to see how other things are programmed. That way you are not starting completly from scratch. -
Here's a thread I started a while back. I had intended to do a bunch of these with some simple code basically showing implementation of different Netlinx command keywords. Never got around to continuing to post these code blocks, but if you want to see a basic programming example, you may find it helpful. Others demonstrated better and more efficient methods in the thread to show different ways of accomplishing the same task.
Thread is here: A random Programming Example -- DSS Music Channels
Welcome aboard! There are excellent people here on this forum.
