There is also an SDK for Windows, grab it here:
http://developer.apple.com/sdk/itunescomsdk.html

You may write some VBscript and control from Netlinx or interface through RS-232 using Girder. Works like a charm too :-)

Unfortunately anything done through the scripting system like those links suggest is abysmally slow. Not usable if you want to do a front end showing song progress, track listings, etc...
