Notifications cause NS and NDiagnostics to disappear/close with no warning or dialog

I'm plodding along trying to build a dms interface for MAX music,(a modicum of success- no where near complete) while i have my notifications enabled and im listening to my button presses, and responses, periodically NS will up and disappear. no dialog box ,nothing.
Tech support said to try using Netlinx Diagnostics tool, but that seems to exhibit the same wierdness, the program will just go away.
Its kind of hard to develop my DMS functionality if my app keeps closing .
anyone have suggestions?

I am using IP for master ->Max
and IP for laptop-> master
Not the same level of functionality, but if diagnostics are crapping out on you, it's a distant second at least.

I did some digging and adjusted my settings->preferences->diagnostics and doubled the buffer size from 10 mb to 20, it hasnt crashed since....
