JVC BR-S522DXU VCR Serial Protocol

Just wondering if anyone has ever had to deal with this particular VHS player. It looks like my options are wired IR, 422, and 232. I've found wired IR info for it, but was hoping someone might have some experience with the serial control of this thing. Thanks!

If 422 is an option, there's a 99.9% chance that you can just throw the Sony "Standard" 422 transport control messages at it.
