Using the Camera on an MXT 1000

Can anyone advise whether the camera can be harnessed just on its own? (Think it is designed for entry keypads?)
IE: if I use a device capable of capturing images/streams over the network, can I get it to point to the camera within the MXT?
It might be a long shot, but, ideally I would like to grab an image from the the camera under certain conditions if at all possible....
